Martin Luther King Day
The Moving Stair January 21st, 2008“The Celebration of the Initiation of the Activation of the Emancipation Proclamation” - Eric Claybrook
I didn’t have the heart to explain that the Emancipation Proclamation came several decades prior to MLKjr’s civil rights movement.

hmmmmm… you know it could be that what he was trying to say is that the Emancipation Proclamation wasn’t really acted upon until the civil rights movement….
In any event, it does sort of sound good…

If you really wanna get technical, the E.P. was acted upon as soon as the states were in the Union and therefore under its dominion. The slaves were freed at that time.
The civil rights movement is the start of the recognition that the words “That all men are created equal” are actually supposed to be part of our nation. (We hold these truths to be self evident…)
So, it’s “The Celebration of the Initiation of the Recognition of the New-Nation Declaration’s Preamble Narration”.
Or something.
